Samara Weaving kept the clear heel trend going strong on Monday, pairing Gianvito Rossi’s Plexi metal cap-toe slingback pumps with a tonal taupe look while promoting “Carolina Caroline” on Monday in New York City.
The “Over Your Dead Body” star accessorized with oval silver sunglasses with amber-tinted lenses, repeating the colder metal note at the toe. She matched the see-through heels with a formfitting one-shoulder dress, a taupe number cut with a narrow diagonal opening at the neckline and light gathering through the waist. Over the dress, she layered The Frankie Shop’s Astra bomber in brown, an oversized zip-front jacket with ribbed cuffs, a ribbed hem and a soft sheen.
For Weaving, the look followed a more saturated shoe moment earlier this spring. At the end of March, she attended the Los Angeles premiere of “Over Your Dead Body” in Christian Louboutin’s Lasera strass pumps in Fever red, a 100mm pointed style covered in more than 2,000 red-toned strass with scalloped PVC cutouts along the sides. There, she worked through color, crystal density and cutwork. In New York, she moved to transparency and metal.

Weaving is not alone in the clear cap-toe choice. Anne Hathaway wore Gianvito Rossi’s clear metal cap-toe slingbacks at “The Devil Wears Prada 2” premiere in Shanghai in April, while Chrissy Teigen chose a mirror-effect Diana version at Netflix’s “Star Search” event in January. Maura Higgins also wore a black cap-toe Gianvito Rossi Plexi pump during her “The Traitors” press run in New York around the same time.
Weaving’s New York sighting comes ahead of “Carolina Caroline,” Magnolia Pictures’ romantic crime thriller costarring Kyle Gallner, which opens in theaters Friday. The appearance also continues her first public stretch since welcoming her first child with husband Jimmy Warden this spring.
