Salma Hayek brought one of summer’s more substantial sandal trends to Roland Garros on Sunday, attending Day Eight of the 2026 French Open in Bottega Veneta sandals, a buckle-adorned lug silhouette that put a heavier take on the summer buckle trend.
The actress wore the Italian house’s black Flash sandal, a lug-soled slide with two wide straps across the foot, tonal leather trim and oversized silver V-shaped buckles. The open-toe style had a rounded black footbed, padded upper and a thick rubber sole with deep grooves along the bottom edge.
The hardware gave the sandal most of its shape from the front, with each strap fastened by a large angular buckle that mirrored Bottega Veneta’s initials while nodding to the geometry that runs through the house’s intrecciato weaving. The sandals are available on resale websites like Clothbase and Modesens.

Hayek Pinault paired the sandals with a black Gucci halter top trimmed in the house’s red and green stripe at the neckline; Gucci and Bottega Veneta both sit under Kering, where Pinault remains chairman after stepping back from the chief executive officer role last fall.
She layered a black cardigan over the top and tied it low at the waist, then added black leather Bermuda-style shorts that hit below the knee. The look stayed mostly in black, including her newsboy-style cap and Alexander McQueen sunglasses, while a bright red Bottega Veneta Baby Veneta Intrecciato leather shoulder bag added the only major pop of color.
The sandal choice placed Hayek Pinault on the chunkier side of a buckle-heavy footwear run that has been picking up this spring. Last month, Christina Aguilera wore Saint Laurent’s Bruce Sandals in West Hollywood for the Abbey’s 35th anniversary, opting for a dark brown leather pair with three broad buckle-fastened straps and rectangular silver hardware. A few days after, Taylor Swift took a more delicate approach to the trend courtside, with Aquazzura’s beige Twist 95 raffia mules, a backless open-toe style with twisted front straps and a covered 95mm heel.
Hayek Pinault and her husband attended the fourth-round match between Alexander Zverev and Jesper de Jong, which Zverev won in straight sets on Court Philippe-Chatrier.
