Caitlin Clark Debuts New Nike Kobe Exclusive Inspired by Iconic Video Game

Details on the star's Sonic the Hedgehog-inspired sneakers.

Days after Caitlin Clark wore her upcoming Nike Kobe 5 Protro PE inspired by Scrabble, the Indiana Fever star has debuted yet another exclusive Kobe sneaker.

During Sunday’s 89-78 home win against the Seattle Storm, Clark laced up a previously unseen Nike Kobe 5 Protro inspired by the video game franchise Sonic the Hedgehog. With an upper combining royal blue, white, gold and a touch of red, Clark’s latest Kobe exclusive adds to her selection of sneakers inspired by her various off-court hobbies. The pair also includes a snakeskin-textured toe tip and a chrome heel counter.

To date, Clark has received numerous Kobe Protro PEs, making her the WNBA equivalent of New York Knicks star Jalen Brunson in terms of personalized pairs. However, only three of Clark’s Kobe PEs have been released to the public: a Fever-colored Kobe 5 Protro in June 2025, a Light Armory Blue Kobe 6 Protro in November ’25 and most recently, Clark’s Rookie of the Year-themed Kobe 5 Protro in April. Next, the Scrabble-themed colorway will arrive at retail in June.

Unlike Clark’s aforementioned Scrabble-inspired style, the Sonic the Hedgehog iteration is not slated for a public release. While it’s still too early to rule out an eventual release in the future, Nike will soon be switching focus away from player exclusive colorways to Clark’s own highly anticipated signature sneaker.

Clark’s Scrabble-themed Nike Kobe 5 Protro PE will be released June 3 in unisex sizing for $190 from Nike’s Snkrs app and select Nike Basketball retailers. A release date for her debut signature sneaker is expected to be announced soon.
