The Adidas Evo SL family will continue to grow with another new build arriving this summer, and this one looks to be the most overt appeal to lifestyle yet.
As the name indicates, the Adidas Evo SL Zip makes use of a new zippered shroud. Underneath remains the traditional lacing system, while the shroud itself is made out of ripstop that appears to be less hearty than that used on the Evo SL ATR. Branding has also been reconfigured, as the oversized Three Stripes motif runs from its standard spot on the lateral side, across the top and over to the toe of the medial.
Five colorways have leaked thus far, four of which feature the same glossy black striping. The bases are then available in white, black, yellow and iridescent silver — all of which match their midsoles. A fifth treatment then opts for all-white.

Zip marks the fourth iteration of the Evo SL to arrive since the baseline model’s launch in spring 2025. The Evo SL ATR caters to moderately inclement weather with a water-resistant upper and lugged outsole, and the Evo SL Woven features different upper construction indicated by its name. Most recently came the Evo SL Exo, which features an overlay exoskeleton for more security.
Although the new shroud and zipper could also provide utility in rain, it seems more likely that the move has been made to make the hit running shoe more appealing for everyday wear.
In Adidas’ final earnings call for fiscal 2025, chief executive officer Bjørn Gulden announced the Evo SL was approaching 10 million pairs sold. Although made as a super trainer catering to speedy workouts, the model has been widely praised for its versatility. It’s essentially the non-plated version of the Adizero Adios Pro super shoes, utilizing the same Lightstrike Pro foam and geometry.
The release date and pricing for the Adidas Evo SL Zip are still to be confirmed, but expect it to launch sometime this summer.
