Hoyeon skipped the expected Cannes footwear on Monday, arriving at the “Hope” photo call in Louis Vuitton’s black Avalon High Boots — a pull-on, square-toe style with a softly slouched shaft that gave her cream crochet set a heavier read.
The actor and Louis Vuitton ambassador posed at Palais des Festivals during the 79th annual Cannes Film Festival wearing the black leather pair just under the knee, with a wide pull-on shaft left open around the calf.
Around the ankle, the leather had a loose, stacked collapse, giving the Avalon its slouched shape. Pale contrast stitching bordered the top line and appeared along the front and side seams, curving down toward the squared-off toe. Hoyeon’s pair had a low, sturdy block heel — a daytime boot proportion rather than a Cannes stiletto.

Hoyeon wore the boots with a cream Louis Vuitton crochet set: a sleeveless cropped top and matching short skirt, both done in a chunky open knit with a homespun texture. She added Louis Vuitton jewelry, including the Color Blossom M Star Ring in pink gold, white mother-of-pearl and diamonds and the Le Damier de Louis Vuitton Medium Ring, and took off the house’s Lvision Pilot Sunglasses for photos.
Her Avalon pair gave Cannes a more subtle version of a slouchy boot shape that has been turning up in more dramatic form this spring. In early March, Paris Jackson wore black slouchy over-the-knee boots to Vivienne Westwood’s fall 2026 show in Paris after choosing tighter sock-boot shapes earlier that week. Heidi Klum went taller and more ruched in New York a week later, wearing olive over-the-knee boots with heavy bunching through the shaft.
“Hope,” directed by Na Hong-jin, stars Hoyeon alongside Hwang Jung-min, Zo In-sung, Taylor Russell, Alicia Vikander and Michael Fassbender. The sci-fi thriller premiered in Cannes competition this year and centers on a village disrupted by mysterious extraterrestrial beings.
