Stone Island Brings a Military Look to One of New Balance’s Newest Lifestyle Sneakers

The 1890 gets two colorways in the brands' latest collaboration.

Stone Island and New Balance have revealed their latest collaborative capsule, a good portion of which is dedicated to the soccer pitch. Off the pitch, though, will come two treatments with a military bent for one of New Balance‘s freshest lifestyle sneakers.

The Stone Island x New Balance 1890 will release in early June with two colorways featuring army green and black. The two shades trade role as the dominant color, and micro ripstop mesh continues the combat aesthetic as it takes over the base of the upper. No-sew overlays create the tear drop-shaped cutouts that have made the 1890 a standout and host a reflective panel above the toe, while the heel cage is now rendered in napped suede. Stone Island’s famous badge logo can then be found on the tongue.

First introduced through an Action Bronson collaboration, the 1890 pairs a brand-new retro-futuristic upper with the Abzorb-cushioned sole unit of the influential 2002 sneaker. The wide launch for the model then came in March, and Joe Freshgoods and Jjjjound have since offered their own interpretations.
