A who’s-who of medical aesthetics is uniting under a single umbrella.
Vos Collection, a network of North American medical aesthetics clinics, has revealed its acquisitions of Day Dermatology & Aesthetics, Marmur Medical, Shino Bay Cosmetic Dermatology & Laser Institute and Humphrey & Beleznay Cosmetic Dermatology, among others.
The network technically started in Canada as an acquisition platform that bought out practices and set standards of care across them. “I saw a one-to-one relationship between amazing financial performance and amazing patient experience. Those two things were not mutually exclusive, but they were so intertwined,” said Dominic Mazzone, Vos Collection’s founder and chief executive officer. “Great patient experiences were based on great outcomes from the treatments themselves, and those were coming from the KOLs in the industry, so I started acquiring those.”
Those names include Dr. Doris Day, Dr. Ellen Marmur, Dr. Ava Shamban and more. Mazzone’s idea wasn’t to homogenize his portfolio of practices, but to set universal standards of care and better facilitate sharing of insights between practices. Each of those physicians remain shareholders in Vos Collection, Mazzone said.
“This vision is not just to consolidate and come together, this vision is to be taking the greatest globally recognized names in medical aesthetics, pull them together, share best practices and develop a community and a culture,” Mazzone said. “We’re going to give them all of the clinical freedom they need. We don’t even tell them what products to use.”
Across North America, the number of clinics has roughly doubled since 2019 to over 13,000, Mazzone said. “Each one of our clinics has a secret sauce,” Mazzone said. “What Vos is now doing is creating an ecosystem, which will also be a content engine, that we look to become the source of truth in the industry. It comes to be entertaining but also educative and authoritative content.”
Beyond content, patients will be a part of a unified loyalty program, and should expect similar experiences from each clinic. “The patient that cares wants a curation and a boutique experience, but a lot of times, these boutique experiences don’t have the safety and compliance and standards that come with actual size. That’s where we’re bridging these gaps,” Mazzone said.
Morgan Stanley is Vos Collection’s lead investor, alongside a private equity fund in Canada, and the goal is to create “the most un-corporate corporation I possibly can for [providers] while running a very efficient business unit,” Mazzone said, who added that Vos Collection is always evaluating new acquisitions. “That is the secret sauce, being able to put those two things together, and acting like a high-end sports agent for 100 high-end athletes which are our doctors and nurses.”
“We launched Vos Collection to raise the standard of care so that every interaction is more thoughtful and more personalized, and grounded in trust,” said Day in a statement. “We value the patient experience as much as the outcome. By working together and sharing expertise, we’re able to deliver a higher level of care than would be possible in isolation.”
