GOLDEN AGE: Christie’s Paris is auctioning jewels from Claudia Cardinale’s personal collection in June.
The Italian actress, who died in September at the age of 87, was known for her roles in Luchino Visconti’s 1963 film “The Leopard,” where she played opposite Alain Delon; Federico Fellini’s “8½,” and the “Pink Panther,” among many others.
From June 16 to 26, a selection of 20 of her jewels will be on sale in the “Joaillerie Paris” online auction.
After being exhibited in Geneva in early May, Cardinale’s pieces, which span jewelry and watches, will be on view from June 19 to 26 at the auction house.

Among the highlights is a Bulgari Serpenti bracelet-watch, estimated between 150,000 and 250,000 euros. With a Vacheron Constantin movement in its head, the reptile’s body features scales in light blue and white enamel while its eyes are pear-shaped sapphires.
Three rings set with cabochon gems from Bulgari will also go under the hammer. Cardinale was particularly fond of the shape, which the brand used as an allegorical representation of its birth city’s many cupolas. The actress’ choices included a 30-carat ruby, an emerald and a star sapphire, all with bids starting in the high five-figure range.
Other lots include a fox-shaped gold brooch by Bulgari; a Buccellati “Papillon” brooch in enamel, ruby, colored sapphires and diamonds; a gold Cartier Tank, and another gold timepiece from Rolex.
Part of the sale’s proceeds will be donated to the Fondazione Claudia Cardinale, which the late actress created with her daughter, Claudia Squitieri, to support contemporary audiovisual creation and female artists.
The late actress’ items will go under the hammer alongside pieces such as a Chaumet brooch in a starburst motif adorned with an emerald cabochon, three pearls and more than 12 carats of diamonds; an 18-karat gold Van Cleef & Arpels sautoir necklace with feline heads, and a wide gem-set Cartier “Rajasthan” bangle figuring two elephants embracing.
